Yes, sometimes: Costochondritis is usually not severe nor disabling because a person with costochondritis can still do many or most of the things that people without costochondritis can do. However, some unlucky patients have a lot of pain and inflammation such that they have trouble moving about, coughing, taking deep breaths, exercising, working, etc... A primary care doctor can evaluate and offer medications.
