Follow-up with Dr.: If a person has results outside a reference range, she should see her doctor again to discuss the meaning of the results. The doctor must have ordered the blood tests for a reason. For ALT and AST testing, perhaps the doctor wanted to look at the status of the liver or muscles in the body. If they were just screening tests, many things can increase enzymes such as infections, medications, etc...
