A member asked:

Are there any studies that point to permanent cognitive deficits following the use of clonazepam daily for less than a year? do any effects completely resolve themselves in time and would i return to my previous baseline/function after being off?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Too many variables: Benzodiazepines (class for clonazepam) have been used for many years, and have not been associated with dementia in the time frame you describe (if at all). You can look for the class in studies, but many variables are considered in dementia such as alcohol and other drug use, nutrition, brain injuries, age, family history, and your own educational, performance in school. See a doc if concerned.
