Related: In my opinion these are related and only have subtle differences. A spasm tends to occur very suddenly without warning and may be quite painful. Overactive bladder events usually have a mind-body relationship with preceded with some warning caused by seeing a toilet, hearing water run, an urge to urinate, etc and is not painful usually. Obviously both result in urge incontinence.

Bladder: Bladder spasm would be one of the symptoms of an overactive bladder. Normally the bladder fills and then parasympathetic nervous system sends signals to the detrusor muscle to contract. Factors such as diabetes, age and in men prostate problems can cause the bladder to no work so smooth and bladder dysfunction develops. Bladder spasm can be one of the symptoms of this.
