Chest pain with a cold? worried my cold is progressing into something worse, i have pain in my chest when i breathe out too deeply and in my sides when i sit. my throat also looks very inflamed. i'm not running a fever and have no knowncardiac issues

Doctor can evaluate: A teen with aches in the chest or rib cage can see his doctor to be evaluated. Pains can come from: pneumonia, ribs and their joints, pneumothorax, heart problem (serious), neck and shoulder muscles, etc... If one feels his pain is coming from the heart, has a chest tightness, some difficulty breathing, he can consider going to the ER by ambulance. Doctor can check for strep throat infection too.
