A member asked:

What are the common pain areas if quadratus lumborum(ql) muscle is contracted/weakened ? can this pain radiate to upper hip and groin area ? could sitting for long times be one of the reasons for ql muscle weakness?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Back muscles : I have evaluated more than 20, 000 people with spinal complaints. There is no evaluation specific for the quadratus lumborum with regards to weakness or contractions. Hip /groin pain can be from psoas muscle dysfunction, arthritis of the hip, kidney problems, infections, abscesses of the psoas muscle, thigh muscle dysfunction, low back problems. Sitting does affect the psoas muscle
