Nucleic acid test: You may get retested for HIV nucleic acid at one year and if that is negative, you would be in the clear. Just to be extra-cautious, blood banks defer blood donation for one year after exposure. For all practical purposes, a negative HIV nucleic acid at 6 months after exposure is conclusive.
