Basics: People don't get antibiotic resistance....germs do. Germs develop resistance to antibiotics when they are not treated adequately, like when a person stops the 10 day treatment in 3 days because they feel better, or when they take a half dose. Many who take antibiotics when they have "colds" or other simple viruses increase the community risk of new resistant germs forming.
