A member asked:

I have chlamydia and was given azithromycin antibiotics to take (4 pills in one dose). in addition to burning in urethra i have uncomfortable feeling in testicles. will this medication help with the testicle issue as well?or is this a separate issue?

Basics: The azithromycin is standard chlamydia treatment &none dose stays in your system for at least a week killing off the germs. The symptoms are triggered by the inflammation that is part of the infection & should gradually subside. (week+) If you are still having symptoms at a later time re-check with your doc.

Chlamydia: “Uncomfortable in the testicles” (plural) suggests this isn’t testicular infection (epididymitis) — just a nonspecific discomfort, maybe psychological more than anything else. Most important, you don’t say anything about timing. If it’s just been a day or two since you were treated, sit tight: it takes several days for symptoms to clear. Check with your doctor if it has been longer than that.
