Depends on details: One can show the actual lesions to the Dermatologist. Without lesions, HSV IgG tests would be expected to be negative. Note that there are thousands of lab tests, so doctors and patients have to pick the ones that are needed for a particular situation. Tests are not chosen randomly. Sometimes the doctor suspects a different disease and will order different tests.
