A member asked:

Hi i was wondering what my doctor meant when she said it takes a 3 for visible jaundice. kinda vague and unclear. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe a test result: One should ask his doctor what he meant. Maybe he plans to do a blood test to look for bilirubin in the blood, which is a pigment from the breakdown of old blood cells (or also of newer blood cells if the person has a disorder). He might be saying that the bilirubin level in the blood needs to be 3 or higher before people start to look yellowish.
