Tough to know: The doc's primary objective in treating your underlying liver condition may not be centered on the SGPT (liver aminotransferase enzyme). It certainly still is not normal to be that high, but in your case it may be expected in the context of your disease. "Ok" could be interpreted as, "Although your SGPT is still high, you are meeting our objectives". For second opinion, try the virtual consult.

Gastroenterologist: Do we know the cause of your jaundice? ? Hepatitis,gall stones, toxic reaction,blood disorder,alcohol excess. Persistent mild elevation of the SGPT indicates some degree of liver inflammation. A gastroenterologist or hepatologist is best qualified to evaluate and advise you.
