A member asked:

Hello! is a total bilirubin level of 1.4 mg/dl considered high enough to indicate jaundice, doctor?

Jaundice occurs when the bilirubin level is high enough that people can visualize the yellowish tint to the white of the eyes or skin. Most use 3 mg/dl as the minimal perceptible level for "jaundice". Some people have a genetic issue where they run levels slightly higher than the general population. (like 1.4)

Perhaps you possess Gilbert's Syndrome, a minor genetic anomaly of conjugated bilirubin. This does NOT cause jaundice...
