A member asked:

Barium swallow can show an abdominal aortic aneurism?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really, but...: Many things are possible in life, so one "could" sort of detect such a problem, but the thing being detected is merely a large object pushing the esophagus or stomach out of position. Since barium stays in the esophagus or stomach (unless there is a leak) there is not a way to see the aorta... unless the aorta has calcium that reveals its shape, or some other unusual revealing components on x-ray.
