Maybe. Maybe not.: Numbers are just numbers, with little meaning unless interpreted by the doctor who knows the whole story. Patients are not just numbers. A high blood sugar in the 170's probably is in the MAYBE range, and lead to a 3-hour test. Sometimes, there are other lab values that lead to a diabetes diagnosis without doing a 3-hour test. Generally, one lab result does not make a diagnosis, but 2 results can.
