At what age is a child normally expected to be able to learn the alphabet and numbers and be able to start learning how to read or do numbers? there is a child age 5 who has great difficulty learning the basics of the alphabet.

Development : Language skills develop as the child ages and decreased hearing is one cause of delay. Reading daily, avoiding more than two hours of screen time unless educational programming and a regular sleep schedule are advised. Please review the developmental milestones and hearing with your PCP.
