Witnessing a death : can cause PTSD, even in early childhood. It should be treated by a psychiatrist who prescribes medications & a psychologist who provides therapy, as people with PTSD can have problems with memory, concentration/attention & cognitive skills, as well as anxiety & depression that also impact learning. A neuropsychological exam will define your neurocognitive areas of deficit.See your MD for referral

I am so sorry: for the loss you experienced. A mother is so important, especially at the age of 12. You are now noticing that you have been affected so now is the time to seek therapy to help you work through the feelings you have not been able to confront till now. It is not unusual for a teen to bury the trauma, unconsciously, until ready to deal with it. Now you are ready. Please seek counseling.your learning/memory problems will surely improve

Memory problems: I am so so sorry that happened to you at such a young age. Is it possible you are suffering from PTSD or depression? Any feelings of hopelessness, guilt? Any social withdrawal? Insomnia or crying spells? Weight loss or gain? Fatigue? Difficulty concentrating? Anxiety and depression often travel together. I sincerely doubt there are many true hypochondriacs. Most people feel bad for a reason.

PictureWorth1000Word: That's difficult to answer. Depends on the circumstance and who was advising you at the time.If you think it may be contributing to some problems you are having now, go to a qualified counselor. If the past doesn't cause the future, it certainly comes before and contributes. There's an equal chance other things are involved.A good counselor can help you sort it out. A doctor may also be recommended
