Depends on details: An in-person or video exam can help. Doctor can decide what is swollen and what the cause is. People do have many lymph nodes in the head and neck. They swell up whenever there is injury, infection, or inflammation in the head and neck, and they should shrink back down to their normal size (usually the size of a black-eyed pea or a small bean) a few weeks to a couple months after getting well.

Hello. I am a 37 year old woman. A few days ago I found a swollen bump under my skin on my left cheek near my ear. Over the next three days it spread to behind my ear and down my neck.
