A member asked:

I have had a lymph node on my neck for over 5 months now and has gone for checkups for hiv and other infections several times but test nagative. what might be the problem please.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

We all have nodes: Whether or not a lymph node is called swollen depends on the size of the node and the average size of nodes in that part of the body, in people of that age group. A node about the diameter of a dime may be called enlarged, and one that is half the width of a dime is called normal sized. An in-person evaluation by one's primary care doctor can help decide whether or not there exists a problem.
