A member asked:

What cold/flu medicine can i take while pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on cause...: A cold caused by cold viruses is usually left alone, as even over-the-counter medications are usually avoided in early pregnancy. The flu caused by influenza viruses is treated by prescription antivirals. A sore throat is tested to see if it is strep throat. If strep, antibiotics are needed (if not strep, the sore throat may be due to cold viruses or another cause). This all means seeing a doctor.
