Time: After review of literature the typical time frame is around 5 years from symptomatic GERD symptoms to development of Barrett 's esopahgus. There is long-segment Barrett's ( 2-3 cm) and short-segment (less than 2cm) For long segment estimated cancer development at 0.5% per year. Short segment not known.
