Hard to guess: New throat whitish spots can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), the flu (Tamiflu may be used), other viruses, yeast (such as Candida), or from causes such as allergies, irritants, or acid reflux. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the throat is irritating, worrisome, or doesn't resolve quickly. Probably strep throat or non-flu viruses are the more likely causes of spots.

Possibly associated: If you have an influenza infection, it is most likely related to the infection currently and should clear as the viral infection resolves. Continue to monitor your fever, drink fluids, and rest.
