Toprol 25mg/day started 6/19. systolic used to be "all over the place", but now generally between 133 and 148 averaging 140 but with occasional spikes up to 156. should i tell the md now as opposed to next visit in 4 months?

Tell now: After 4 months your bp goal of 130/80 or less has not been reached. Unless you tend to have a fast heart rate, I don't regard beta blockers a good first line choice for bp treatment. If you have a tendency to rapid heart rates, the toprol dose can be increased for better bp control. Otherwise I feel more effective choices of medications can be made by your physician. Don't wait to discuss this wit
