Painful hemorrhoids: Severe hemorrhoid pain usually means a thrombosed hemorrhoid(clotted) which needs surgical treatment. If you can't contact a proctologist or colorectal surgeon, proceed to the hospital emergency room where proper treatment can be obtained. In the meantime apply warm compresses.
