A member asked:

Hello, i hired a nanny to look after my newborn. and it seems that she pats him quite hard to burp. i do not think the baby is in distress but just checking to see if any harm can be caused such as brain damage?

Wouldn't think so: It would be proper for you to set limits on the intensity of any contact/patting. Some babies burp easier than others & there is no reason to obsess over it when they do not. They don't get brain injury by patting their torso.
