When you decide to: ... after discussing with your current doctor your condition and your treatment. Doctor and patient should agree on a treatment plan. Usually, an antidepressant is started at a lower dose and titrated up on the dose until adequate good effects happen or undesirable effects start appearing. If benefits are not great at that point, the drug can be changed, or a second drug added.
