If medications make symptoms worse then you should consider psychotherapy. You should see a psychologist if possible. Take care!

Assuming no underlying medical problem contributing to your anxiety, would also urge counseling especially as you are going through a grieving period. Stay physically fit, and socially active, and you will indeed gradually cope better. Unfortunately, many doctors push pills too readily; there are alternative approaches that can work as well or better.
