A member asked:

I have a gaping laceration but i dont think its deep enough that i would immediately say it needs stitches. however, because it is gaping, do you think it does? its been like 30 hours since i got the cut, so is too late for medical attention?

Gaping laceration: is it still bleeding or oozing? Where is it ? and are you up to date on tetanus ?. Foreign body? Since you say it is gaping i would seek medical attention, so you can get a tetanus shot if needed and be evaluated for antibiotic to prevent infection. Usually after 24 hours we dont close but if gaping and oozing a times loose sutures are placed. Do go today and followup with an MD urgent care.
