A member asked:

Have been asked to take prednisolone for a couple of days for a cough, inflammation, and such. what are the potential side affects? is this the right approach to treat my symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Corticosteroids: Short term taking of corticosteroid medication(a week) is usually no problem for nondiabetics. I reserve corticosteroid medication in respiratory tract infection for patients who have complications of wheezing.but they have been prescribed as add ons in cases of community acquired pneumonia by some physicians.
