Hi i went to the doctor on monday as i was suffering with sharp pains in my throat, ear and the back of my head, he has given me an antibiotic which i take ibruffin as well, wednesday morning i woke up with stronger pains that last for a few seconds?

Doctor may recheck: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or another cause such as irritants or allergies (especially spring time). Usually, one sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to look for strep). If throat symptoms worsen, there could be an abscess in the tonsil area.
