Hysterectomy ?'s: At 49 years, after a hysterectomy at 39, your ovarian stimulation hormones (FSH levels) are increased and producing exaggerated levels of both progesterone and estrogen, which affect breast tissue. For comfort sake, since true menopause may be years away, ask about low dose oral contraceptives to stop ovarian hormone production. This may be continued until age 54 or even later.
