Ive just started metoprolol succ er for high bp. at the current dose of 1/2 a 25mg tablet im not noticing a drop yet. is it too soon to tell if dosage is not enough? how much should i expect to see my numbers drop? my omron shows 142/90 still.

Give it more time : The blood pressure is not dangerously high. Medications for high blood pressure can take two weeks to achieve their full effect. it is a good idea to discuss with the prescriber what target blood pressure you should aim for. Also make a habit of recording and reporting your pulse rate together with the bp.
