A member asked:

Safe to take a carb / starch blocker while on high blood pressure medication metoprolol? don't intend to use daily just when a meal consists of lots of starch like pizza or spaghetti. would like to loss little extra weight.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Carb blocker: Evidence that carb or starch blockers are effective is somewhat weak. They may curb your appetite and can cause uncomfortable gas and diarrhea. I doubt any interaction with beta blockers. Your pharmacist should have more information on this topic for you. In the meantime, limit your intake of pasta and pizza to cut down on calorie intake.
