Tendons & ligaments: Some of the tendons and ligaments in the neck/shoulders could be inflamed or over stretched due to posture/ activities like stilling too long before Computer/ TV or hyper- exercising as in competitive sports: basket ball, soccer, football, tennis ... Rest, ice/ cold alternate with heat + Massage might help but it is best to see PCP for proper diagnosis and then treatment.
