PCP-evaluation-xrays: You could have a neck strain, a muscle strain depending on how and when your symptons have appeared as well as how it is developing. There are other causes therefore you should contact your PCP, have aphysical exam and x-rays perhaps for a better diagnosis and treatment.

Nondiagnostic: Without a thorough history and physical examination of the area, the problem is nondiagnostic at this time. However an irritable nerve or muscle may be causing the discomfort. If a rash appears shingles is a possibility. If symptoms persist or worsen see your physician. In the meantime try cold or hot packs and rubbing liniment, and ,if you can take them,NSAIDS like ibuprofen may help.
