Reasonable idea: Hearing assessment can be done both by a physician generally or by an audiologist with specialized equipment. The best approach starts with the physician who can assess the ears for retained fluid or infection. Slow acquisition of speech is also a marker for other forms of developmental delay & all areas deserve a close evaluation.
