Likely Menieres: This condition can be quite handicapping. Usually with an attack you have to stop, sit down and wait it out. Frequently the hearing stops in the ear with the attack. Occasionally there is a high whistling tone in the ear that precedes the attack or occurs during the attack. After clearing, usually there are no residuals. These are handled by an ENT specialist or a neuro-otologist.
