A member asked:

My son (2yrs) was diagnosed with glue ear in may. he is still grabbing his ear. he is also permanently sick and has sinus issues. should i take him to his pediatrician or an ent specialist?

Some basics: Glue ear is just another term for fluid in the middle ear that has remained longer than expected(3-6 wks after infection. By itself it is benign but may predispose a kid to another middle ear infection. An ENT would eventually consider tubes in a kid who had 5 middle ear infections/yr or persistent fluid more than 3 months. I'd let the pedi be your initial contact.
