Possible causes: Many conditions may be associated, including post nasal drip. Nasal saline with gentle removal of mucus may relieve the cough. Monitor for fever, provide fluids and please follow up with your pediatrician.

Some basics: An infant has poor control over the muscles involved in coughing which cross over to those involved in vomiting. This control improves with age & is seldom seen after a year. Treatment is based on helping the cough, which can be aided by good hydration, a mist vaporizer & removal of any airborne irritants (fumes, smoke, dust).
