My skin biopsy was positive for connective tissue disease, unspecified. do biopsies sometimes specify lupus, sjogrens etc?

Yes and no: Depending on the disorder, biopsy can make a specific diagnosis, such as vasculitis. Most of the time diagnosing needs to take into consideration, medical history, physical findings, laboratory tests and imagining studies.
