Does it matter what skin area is biopsied when the goal is to diagnose a condition such as lupus. i had puspular and circular scaly places.

Yes: Lupus may or may not involve skin. When it does, the biopsy will help define the problem if taken from involved skin. Other areas will reveal only normal skin.
