A member asked:

My 7 month old has developed a lump just behind his right ear. it is quite big and goes down his neck. no fever or other symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible lymph node: A lump behind the ear and extending into the neck is suggestive of a lymph node, but only an exam can confirm. Usually in children, this could result from scaliness of the scalp or behind the ear, sometimes even a small pimple or bug bite on the scalp, or from post nasal drainage from a viral URI. IF it continues to enlarge, please get an evaluation.
