Usually 3-5 days: Assuming lower tract infection (no kidney involvement as indicated by fever or flank pain); if prescribed an antibiotic; and if that drug is active against K. pneumoniae, your symptoms should start to improve in a day or two and should be gone after 3-5 days. But it's often difficult for doctors to know or guess the right antibiotic. Check back w/ your doctor or clinic if symptoms persist.
