Specialists: Please start w/seeing your primary care doctor. He/she will give you an opinion about specialists and make a good referral if indicated. Peace and good health.

Hard to say: When you pay out of pocket for such services you can often do this if the specialist will agree to see you. Some will not since they don't want their busy schedule filled with simple issues a GP can handle. In states/countries where the insurance companies contracts determine such access, you must contact them or read the contract to see what they allow.
