A member asked:

Went to a dentist to remove a tooth. my gums were aching when i was given the numbing injection. she prescribed pain medication and antibiotics as she suspected an infection. the pain on my gums is now unbearable. what can i do? meds not helping.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infection: You had surgery for an infection that was spreading from your tooth to the surrounding bone and soft tissues and to the rest of your body. May take 48-72 hours for antibiotic to take hold. Keep yourself hydrated. Keep surgical site clean. Eat soft high protein diet. Take all medications exactly as prescribed. Call your Dentist, the one who knows you best, for reevaluation and further management.
