Oral herpes: It's not common for outbreaks of cold sores (oral herpes) to cause lymph node inflammation. It can happen, but this suggests it might be something else. The treatment of choice for oral herpes outbreaks is a single large dose (2 grams) of valacyclovir; speak wtih your doctor or a pharmacist. If the neck lump is painful, red, or any fever, see a doctor ASAP. Good luck!
