A member asked:

My daughter is 8 months and she hasn't started crawling or started teething, is that normal for her age?

Yes: Infants usually have their 1st tooth by 4-6 mo & 1/m thereafter but some will go past 1yr before their 1st erupts. If delayed many often come through at the same time. Some infants commando crawl by 8 m but many wait until 9 or later.Neither of these issues is worrisome.

Normal: Check in with Pediatrician as to crawling. A tad late, but well within normal limits. Same holds for timing of eruption of baby teeth. Amer Dental Assn., Amer Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, & Academy of General Dentistry all agree that all children should have 1st dental appt at eruption of 1st baby tooth, but not later than 1st b'day. See a specialist Pedodontist.
