A member asked:

When do dental fillings need to be replaced? my dentist is replacing some fillings that are 7 or 8 years old

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Filling lifespan: Fillings have to be replaced if they wear down, discolor, fracture, or the adjacent tooth material becomes damaged. One of the disadvantages of tooth-colored filling materials is shorter-life span, although today's materials are more long lasting than those of a decade ago. Ask your Dentist to explain why yours need replacing. I'm sure there's a good reason.
