Tooth pain on biting is diagnostic problem usually related to one or a combination of five things, a high restoration in the bite, a fracture in the tooth structure, inflammation at the apex of the tooth, a filling flexing under pressure when bonding to the tooth structure is inconsistent or the restortion being close to the nerve and time needed to adjust and settle. It's probably time to see a specialist Endodontist who will have equipment not usually found in a General Dentist's office. Endodontist has the training and experience to evaluate for micro-fractures, partial death of the plural tissues inside your tooth. Endodontist will probably have both an Endodontic Microscope and a Cone Beam CT Scan.
