A member asked:

Brother is 16.he only sleep for 5-7 hour a night.does sleep play a big role in height?because i heard that hgh is mostly released in 1sthour of sleep

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sleep issues: The amount of sleep required for peak performance, health & growth varies with age/physical & mental activity. The usual need in teens is 9-10 hrs/d. More would be needed in peak growth/stress times. Less can impair both growth & performance. At 16 the growth centers are open in most males but some close early & when they do no more height increase will occur.
